Get to Know Fort Collins at…

Pinball Jones

If you’re the type of person who gets a kick out of a cold drink and a game or two of pinball, then Pinball Jones is right up your alley! Known for its downstairs location in Old Town, Pinball Jones has been providing visitors with a unique experience since 2011, but just last year they added a second location near Campus West. The downtown location serves a number of local beers and ciders on tap and also offers fresh popcorn while the Campus West location has a pool table, skee ball, arcade games, and pinball as well as a great cocktail menu in addition to beer and cider.

Ace Gillett’s

Looking to grab a drink somewhere a bit out of the ordinary? Ace Gillett’s is for you. According to their website, their bar “celebrates a bygone era of exquisite service, timeless style, classic cocktails, and expert cuisine” where you can “sip a handcrafted martini from [the] signature drink menu, or partake in that perfect pairing of wine and unforgettable fare” while enjoying a bit of jazz music from the live band. If this sounds like an incredible place to be, that’s because it is.

Dungeons and Drafts

Billing itself as “a tavern for geeks and gamers,” Dungeons and Drafts offers “local microbrews, a variety of geek themed drinks, and an array of appetizers and sandwiches all in the setting of a medieval tavern.” Oh yeah, and there are plenty of board games to be played as well. If you’re looking for a place to meet some new friends, this might just be the perfect option as they offer geek trivia, movie viewings, open mic comedy nights, anime Tuesdays, and more.

The Lyric

If you’ve been searching for a movie theater that provides you with something a little bit different, The Lyric is the place to be. “A hub for the community’s creative endeavors” that is “always open to hosting new artistic projects,” The Lyric plays movies that might otherwise not be shown in the area. They often host a number of special events in addition to showing films from beloved directors, foreign films, and documentaries. In other words, if you want to see a movie that might be a little bit out of the ordinary, The Lyric is the theater to visit. As of the time of this writing, a Wes Anderson retrospective is right around the corner and they’ve just added some great food to their menu, so if you’re in the mood for The Life Aquatic and a Kimchi Tuna Sandwich, The Lyric is right up your alley.

Gryphon Games and Comics

Whether you’re a fan of comic books or not, there is plenty to love about Gryphon Games and Comics. A staple of the city for almost fifteen years now, Gryphon hosts events ranging from Dungeons and Dragons to Saturday Morning Cartoons. If you grew up with comic books, you’ll love the selection on display at Gryphon Games and Comics and you’ll see everything from single issues to graphic novels and everything in between. They also offer card games, war games, and board games in store. There’s a whole lot to love here regardless of what you’re looking for and you can even grab a cup of coffee at the Purple Cup Cafe that’s tucked away in their foyer.
