How to Celebrate the Fourth of July in Fort Collins
Enjoy the Parade
The City of Fort Collins has plenty of information about how the community celebrates this holiday over on their website. One thing that many people enjoy on the Fourth of July is going to the local parade. As kids, being able to watch a parade was an absolute blast and the floats throwing out candy were not to be missed. After all, how can you pass up free candy?
What does this parade have in store? You’ll have to check it out for yourself to find out, but you can trust us when we say that if past parades are any indication, this one is not to be missed. The parade moves west down Mountain from Meldrum St. to Jackson Ave. It starts at 10 a.m., but we’d strongly advise you to get there early to make sure you have a good view of the procession.
Eat Some Great Food
If there’s one thing Fort Collins has plenty of, it’s good food. This time of year is no exception! Although we get to enjoy great food all year around, it seems that there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy it even more during the summer. After all, there’s nothing quite like a cold beverage and a warm meal. Fortunately for everyone, there will be plenty of Food Trucks at City Park from 4:30 to 9:00 on the Fourth of July.
If you’d prefer to stick a bit closer to home, why not take advantage of the barbecue area in our courtyard to make a few burgers and brats? Have a few friends over, enjoy the amenities at Ram’s Crossing, and make some memories! If it’s too hot, you can even take a dip in the pool to cool off a bit.
Watch the Fireworks
According to the City of Fort Collins website, “The Fort Collins Symphony, led by Maestro Wes Kenney, will play from 8:15 p.m. until the fireworks are scheduled to begin around 9:35 p.m.” They also note that the fireworks display could begin later, or even be rescheduled depending on the weather at the time and also what the wind conditions look like.
Assuming that everything goes according to plan, however, when the fireworks start, you’re sure to enjoy the show! If years past are any indication of what we can expect this year, we’re all in for a huge treat. No matter what type of fireworks you prefer to see lighting up the night sky, it’s pretty much guaranteed that you’ll have a smile on your face from beginning to end. And, as the aforementioned website notes, enjoying the public fireworks display is much safer all around than lighting off consumer fireworks, making it a win/win no matter how you look at it.
